…tal como dissemos no post anterior, voltámos ao Parque do Grande Canyon! (As we said in the previous post, we went back to the Grand Canyon Park)!

…visitámos o parque, procurando as melhores vistas, porque já conhecemos muito deste parque, em visitas anteriores!. (We visited the park, looking for the best views, because we already know much about this park, on previous visits)!

…viajando na estrada US 64, no sentido sul, chegámos de novo à cidade de Williams, onde continuámos com a “Odisseia” de viajar na famosa “Route 66”!. (Traveling on US Highway 64, heading south, we reached the city of Williams again, where we continued with the “Odyssey” of traveling on the famous “Route 66”)!.

…na cidade de Williams, além de hotéis, restaurantes, lojas de recordações, sempre recordando a famosa “Route 66”, a maior atracção é sem qualquer dúvida, o “Grande Canyon Railway”, que é o comboio que faz o trajecto até ao Grande Canyon Parque, com divertimentos a bordo!. (In the city of Williams, in addition to hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, always remembering the famous “Route 66”, the biggest attraction is undoubtedly the “Grand Canyon Railway”, which is the train that makes the journey Up to the Grand Canyon Park, with amusements on board)!

…este alinhamento velho dum beco sem saída, da famosa “Route 66”, perto da vila de Ash Fork, no estado de Arizona, está a retornar lentamente à natureza!. (Old Route 66, near Ash Fork, Arizona, this old dead end alignment of Route 66 west of Ash Fork, Arizona, being left to slowly return to nature)!.

…viajávamos na estrada rápida 40, quando passamos pela vila de Ash Fork. Dentro da vila existe muitas coisas antigas, da famosa estrada 66!. (We were traveling on the fast road 40, as we passed the village of Ash Fork. Inside the village there are many old things, from the famous road 66 !.

…na vila de Seligman, podemos desfrutar da réplica de  sinais desta famosa estrada, em ambos os lados da rua. É o berço da “Historic Route 66 Associação do Arizona”, e casa do  “Anual Fun Run”. Em cada primavera, centenas de carros cruzam a vila, em fila, antigos, modernos ou alosivos à “Route 66”. Se tiver-mos sorte,  podemos ver o  fundador aa associação, Angel Delgadillo, (como se vê na TV) na sua barbearia, que agora é o Centro de Visitas da Route 66. Podemos também apreciar a mais engraçada comida local, tal como se usava no tempo em que esta famosa estrada era a mais importante rota para oeste e, muito mais se pode dizer da vila Seligman, onde existe muitas atracções desta famosa estrada! (In the village of Seligman, enjoy replica “Burma Shave” signs on both sides of the street, is a birthplace of the “Historic Route 66 Association of Arizona”, and home of “Annual Fun Run”. Each spring hundreds of cars cruise town, then head to “topock”. If lucky, you might association founder Angel Delgadillo, (as seen on TV) at his barbershop, now the Route 66 Visitor Center. This has long been the funniest food spot on “66”, and much more can be said of Seligman village, where there are many attractions of this famous road!

…já com saudades desta vila, continuámos a viajar na “Route 66” rumo ao Oeste!  (Already missing this village, we continued to travel on Route 66 westbound)!

…passámos pelas Grande Canyon Caverns, mas não paramos, parecia que ia chover!. (We passed the Grand Canyon Caverns, but we did not stop, it seemed like it was going to rain)!.

…e choveu mesmo, muita chuva do Arizona! (And it really rained, a lot of rain from Arizona)!

…na vila de Peach Springs, também não paramos, a razão era a chuva! (In the village of Peach Springs, we did not stop either, the reason was the rain!

…parámos em old Hackberry, que fica a sul do caminho  de ferro, na “Route 66″, está lá o Hackberry General Store, que oferece uma grande paragem do verdadeiro, “Arizona 66”. Este foi o antigo refúgio do artista Bob Waldmire, agora operado por Pritchards, onde  mantiveram a tradição de tornar este lugar, onde fazem as luzes dos travões brilhar com a paragem dos nossos veículos. Há um “monte” de coisas velhas para se ver cá fora, incluindo “sedans” velhos enferrujados, bombas de gás antigas e outros sinais e, um lindo carro vermelho brilhante, “56 Corvette”!. (We stopped at old Hackberry, is rests south of the railroad on “Dirt 66”, but the Hackberry General Store offers a great stop an “Arizona 66”. This was the former haunt of the late Route artist Bob Waldmire, now operate by Pritchards, who have kept up the tradition to make this a place that makes the brake lights glow. There is a passel of cool old stuff to see outside, including rusty old sedans, vintage gas pumps and signs, and a bright red “56 Corvette”!.

…já próximo da cidade de Kingman, ainda na famosa “Route 66”, passámos junto da “Ranchero Plaza”, mas não paramos, pois a chuva queria visitar-nos de novo! (Near the town of Kingman, still on the famous “Route 66”, we passed by the “Ranchero Plaza”, but we did not stop, because the rain wanted to visit us again)!

…já com indícios da chuva acabar, ainda na “Route 66”, já mesmo próximo de Kingman, passamos no “Outpost Sallon”, mas também não paramos!. (With rain signs already on Route 66, near Kingman, we passed the Outpost Sallon, but we did not stop either)!

…finalmente chegámos à cidade de Kingman, que era a nossa meta para hoje!. (We finally reached the city of Kingman, which was our goal for today!

…Kingman, é uma cidade no Mohave County, Arizona, com muito movimento, hoteis, restaurantes, praças comerciais, mas sempre preservando a imagem de tudo o que respeita a famosa estrada 66!. (Kingman, is a city in Mohave County, Arizona, with much movement, hotels, restaurants, commercial squares, but always preserving the image of everything that respects the famous road 66)!.

…pela manhã deixámos o RV Parque na cidade de Bluff, no estado de Utah, tomando a US 162, em direcção ao Leste! (In the morning we left the RV Park in the town of Bluff, Utah, taking US 162, heading East)!

…continuando na mesma estrada, passámos pelo Yucca House Nacional Monumento! (Continuing on the same road, we passed the Yucca House National Monument!

…pois e destino era o “Quatro Esquinas Nacional Monumento”, que é um local, no Sudoeste dos Estados Unidos, onde os estados do Arizona, Colorado, Novo México e Utah se encontram!. (Because the destination was the “Four Corners National Monument” which is a local, marks the quadripoint in the Southwest United States where the states of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah meet)!.

…não resistimos a parar, e fotografar o “Shiprock” que se avista da estrada! (We did not resist stopping, and photographing the “Shiprock” that you can see from the road)!

…chegámos à cidade de Kayenta, no estado de Arizona, tomando a estrada US 163, para norte!. (We reached the town of Kayenta, in the state of Arizona, taking US 163 road, north)!.

…pois o destino era o Monument Valley, onde a estrada nos contempla com cenários que se vêm nas fotos das revistas de viajens, como este do “Agathla Peak”!. (Because the destination was the Monument Valley, where the road contemplates us with scenarios that are seen in the photos of magazines of trips, like this one of “Agathla Peak”)!.

…fomos parando e fotografando, até à fronteira com estado do Utah!. (We stopped and photographed, to the border with state of Utah)!.

…comprámos o bilhete antes de entrar no Centro de Boas-Vindas e outras instalações do Monument Valley Park, havia algum sol, tirámos as primeiras fotos, mas começou a chover um pouc0!. (Bought the ticket before entering the Welcome Center and other facilities of Monument Valley Park, was some sun, we took the first pictures, but it started to rain a bit)!.

…depois de percorrer o Centro de Boas Vindas, não resistimos a fazer o “Loop Drive” entrando pelo parque, até onde nos foi possível, pois alguma chuva e trovoada teimava em aparecer! (After walking through the Welcome Center, we did not resist doing the “Loop Drive” entering the park, as far as we could, because some rain and thunderstorm kept appearing)!

…o tempo começou a clarear, saindo do Park do Monument Valley, ainda seguimos para norte por algum tempo pela estrada US 163, podendo ver o parque da estrada, mas ainda não explicámos o que é o Monumento Valley, cá vai a explicação!. O Vale do Monumento (em Navajo é: Tsé Bindzi Gaii, significando o vale das rochas), é uma região situada no plateau do estado do Colorado caracterizada por um conjunto de torres de arenito, onde a mais grande alcança  a altura de 1,000 ft (300 m) acima do solo do vale. Fica situado na linha de estado do Arizona e Utah, perto da área das quatro esquinas dos estados de Utah, Arizona, Colorado e New Mexico. O vale encontra-se dentro da reserva da nação do Navajo, e é acessível pela estrada US 163!. (The weather started to clear, leaving the Park of Monument Valley, we still head north for some time on the US 163 road, being able to see the road park, but we have not yet explained what Valley Monument is, here’s the explanation: Monument Valley (Navajo):Tsé Bindzi Gaii, meaning valley of the rocks), is a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor. It is located on the Arizona-Utah state line near the Four Corners area. The valley lies within the range of the Navajo Nation reservation and is accessible from U. S. Highway 163!.

…viajando para sul, entrámos de novo no estado de Arizona, tomando a estrada US 64 em direcção ao oeste!. (Traveling south, we re-entered Arizona, taking US 64 westbound!

…pois o destino era o Grand Canyon National Park, que tem 276 milhas de comprimento, 29 milhas de largura e alcança uma profundidade de mais de 1.600 metros. Cerca de dois bilhões de anos da história geológica da Terra foram expostos, tal como o Rio Colorado e seus afluentes, a cortar os seus canais através de camada após camada, na rocha, enquanto o “Colorado Plateau” foi erguido. A evidência recente sugere que o rio Colorado estabeleceu o seu curso através de uma  garganta, pelo menos há cerca de 17 milhão anos. Desde aquela época, o Rio Colorado continuou a erodir e formar este canyon, até  à sua configuração atual. Por milhares de anos, a área tem sido continuamente habitada por nativos americanos que construíram assentamentos dentro do canyon com as  suas muitas cavernas. Hoje, a Nação Tribal Hualapai e as tribos Havasupai ajudam a executar o Parque Nacional do Grand Canyon. É considerada uma das Sete Maravilhas do Mundo!. (Because the destination was the Grand Canyon National Park, which isis 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide, and reaches a depth of over a mile (6,000 feet/1,800 metres). Nearly two billion years of the Earth’s geological history has been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted. Recent evidence suggests the Colorado River established its course through the canyon at least 17 million years ago. Since that time, the Colorado River continued to erode and  form the canyon to its present day configuration. For thousands of years, the area has been continuously inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. Today the Hualapai Tribal Nation and the Havasupai tribes help run the Grand Canyon National Park. It is considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World)!.

…os RV Parks, em Grand Canyon National Park área estavam cheios, não havia vagas, como tal, viajamos para a cidade de Williams, no estado de Arizona, para dormir, com a intenção de voltar novamente para o parque no dia seguinte!. (Rv Park in Grand Canyon National Park area were full, we traveled to the city of Williams, in state of Arizona, to sleep, with the intention of returning again to the park the next day)!.

…tornamos a ver-nos amanhã, até lá, sejam felizes, viajando! (We will see you again tomorrow, by then, be happy, traveling)!
