Homer Spit, Alaska! 

…hoje não andamos na estrada, o dia é passado neste local previlegiado, que dá pelo nome de “Homer Spit”. É uma prenda, estar neste local, as suas origens, já explicámos em texto publicado ontem, portanto vamos falar de pequenos pormenores, que nos vão surgindo a cada passo que damos!. (today we do not walk on the road, the day is spent in this previlegiado place, that gives by the name of “Homer Spit”. It is a gift, to be in this place, its origins, we explained in a text published yesterday, so let’s talk about small details, which come up with every step we take)!.

…a nossa “White Fox”, hoje está de folga, está estacionada, num local à beira da Kachemak Bay, o ar que se respira é puro, o cenário do nosso quintal é maravilhoso, as pequenas ondas na maré baixa, nem se ouvem e, as montanhas com neve, lá ao longe, dá-nos uma paz, muito difícil de encontrar noutro qualquer lugar!.  (our “White Fox”, today is off, is parked, in a place on the edge of Kachemak Bay, the air you breathe is pure, the scenery of our backyard is wonderful, the small waves at low tide, nor if you listen, and the snowy mountains, far away, give us a peace, very difficult to find elsewhere)!.

…the Seafarer’s Memorial, serve como um lugar de descanso final, para os que estão perdidos no mar, e é dedicado a eles, no passado, no presente e no futuro. O memorial é um lugar para os amigos e a família visitarem, para lutar e lembrarem os seus amigos ou familiares, perdidos para sempre no mar!. (the Seafarer’s Memorial, serves as a final resting place for those lost at sea and is dedicated to them, past, present, and future. The memorial is a place for friends and family to visit to mourn and remember their lost loved ones)!.

…andando por ali, deparamos com pequenas coisas, que podem ser quiosques, casas de venda de recordações, restaurantes ou simplesmente pequenas barracas, que mais não sejam, só para embelezar o local, e claro, o viajante tirar fotos junto a elas!. (walking around, we come across small things, which can be kiosks, souvenir shops, restaurants or simply small stalls, which are not more, just to beautify the place, and of course, the traveler take pictures next to them)!.

…a maré estava baixa, entrámos na rampa da marina número 1, descemos até lá ao fundo, sinal de que quando a maré está alta, existe uma diferença muito grande de altitude, dizem-nos que em certas alturas do ano pode chegar aos 15 metros. Os barcos ancorados, com diversas cores e as montanhas com neve ao longe, completam um lindo cenário!. (the tide was low, we entered the ramp of marina number 1, we descended to the bottom, a sign that when the tide is high, there is a very great difference in altitude, we are told that at certain times of the year at 15 meters. Anchored boats, with various colors and snowy mountains in the distance, complete a beautiful scenery)!.

…as típicas casas em estacas à beira do mar, pintadas de cores diferentes, são um cenário único! (the typical houses on stakes by the sea, painted in different colors, are a unique setting)!

…um pouco a norte, está a continuação da grande marina. O dia estava um pouco frio, mas com um céu maravilhoso, Cá de cima admira-se os barcos ancorados e as montanhas com neve lá muito ao fundo!. (a little to the north, is the continuation of the great marina. The day was a little cold, but with a wonderful sky, from above the boats moored and the snowy mountains to the rear are admired)!.

…hoje o dia era de folga para todos, incluindo a nossa “White Fox”, portanto não cozinhámos as nossas refeições. Comemos, uma comida diferente do habitual, num restaurante, com vista para a marina!. (today was a day off for everyone, including our “White Fox”, so we did not cook our meals. We ate, a different food than usual, in a restaurant, overlooking the marina)!.

…a cada momento nos aparece algo diferente, neste maravilhoso local! (every moment we find something different, in this wonderful place)!.

…fizemos uma caminhada, sempre na beira da Kachemak Bay, o cenário era deslumbrante!. (we did a hike, always on the edge of Kachemak Bay, the scenery was breathtaking)!.

…esta é a lagoa que foi construída pelo homem, para que quando a maré estiver alta a água entre, juntamente com os peixes, e que proporciona o prazer dos pescadores!.  (this is the lagoon that was built by man, so that when the tide is high the water enters, along with the fish, and that provides the pleasure of the fishermen)!.

…mais casas sobre estacas!. (more houses on stakes)!.

…é fim do dia, os barcos regressam, alguns com muito peixe, começa a exibição dos peixes mais grandes para as fotografias, e logo de seguida a limpeza do peixe, por pessoas habilitadas, que manejam uma faca com muita habilidade!. (it’s the end of the day, the boats return, some with a lot of fish, the biggest fish are shown for the photographs, and then the cleaning of the fish by skilled people who handle a knife with great skill)!.
