…dormimos aqui, pela manhã, ainda cedo, serviram um bom pequeno almoço!. Obrigado!. (we slept here in the morning, still early, served a good breakfast!. Thank you)!.

…entrámos na estrada 10, estava tempo de chuva, chovia aqui e havia algum bom tempo acolá, o cenário era o mesmo que já descrevemos no texto de ontem, muitos camiões que nos passavam, algumas caravanas, que também escolheram esta estrada para se dirigirem para leste, os veículos ligeiros, passavam por nós a uma velocidade, que nos faziam “inveja”, mas nós continuávamos na nossa “velocidade de cruzeiro”, ou seja sempre um pouco abaixo da velocidade permitida!. (we got on Route 10, it was rainy, it was raining here and there was some time there, the scenario was the same as we described yesterday, many trucks passing us, some caravans, who also chose this road to they drove past us at a speed that made us “jealous,” but we continued on our “cruising speed,” which is always a little below the allowed speed)!.

…passado algum tempo, para nós eram muitas horas, já estávamos próximo da cidade Houston, a estrada dividia-se, havia pontes e mais pontes, era preciso muita atenção, mas os sinais marcados na estrada ajudavam, e diziam que viajávamos na direcção certa!. (after a while, for us it was many hours, we were already near the city Houston, the road was divided, there were bridges and more bridges, it was necessary a lot of attention, but the signs marked on the road helped, and said that we were traveling in right direction)!.

…com a atenção que dispensávamos ao tráfico, pois aquelas pontes trazendo mais e mais tráfico de diversos locais, que se juntava na nossa frente, nem tempo tínhamos para nos lembrar que, em 30 de Agosto de 1836, dois empreendedores imobiliários de Nova York, Augustus Chapman Allen e John Kirby Allen, compraram 6,642 acres (26,88 km2) de terra, ao longo de Buffalo Bayou com a intenção de fundar uma cidade!. Houston, hoje é a cidade mais populosa do estado do Texas e, a quarta cidade mais populosa dos EUA !. …o tempo continuava sem sol, mas a estrada estava em boas condições, e esse pormenor era muito importante, pelo menos para a nossa “White Fox”, o que nos permitiu chegar próximo da cidade de Beaumont, onde parámos para comer!. (the weather remains sunless, but the road was in good condition, and that detail was very important, at least for our “White Fox”, which allowed us to get close to the town of Beaumont, where we stopped to eat! .

…já explicámos em textos anteriores, que agora, mudou um pouco o nosso roteiro de viajem, que agora é, rodar o maior número de milhas possível, se possível de dia, pois estamos desejosos de chegar a nossa casa, já vão algumas semanas de ausência, como tal, procurando poupar tempo, vamos tentando dormir ou comer, nesses hoteis e restaurantes que nos aparecem na estrada!. …em muitas áreas, a estrada segue em estruturas de concreto, sobre rios, riachos, pântanos ou outras áreas pantanosas!. (in many areas, the road follows concrete structures, over rivers, streams, swamps or other swampy areas)!

Highway 10, Louisiana! (Horace Wilkinson Bridge)

… a Ponte Horace Wilkinson, é uma ponte de balanço, com escora saliente, carregando o Intersatate 10, em Louisiana, através do Rio Mississippi, desde Port Allen, na Paróquia West Baton Rouge até Baton Rouge, na Paróquia East Baton Rouge. A ponte é mais conhecida como a “Ponte Nova”, porque é a mais jovem das duas pontes que atravessam o rio em Baton Rouge!. (the Horace Wilkinson Bridge, is a cantilever bridge, carrying Intersatate 10 in Louisiana, across the Mississippi River from Port Allen in West Baton Rouge Parish to Baton Rouge in East Baton Rouge Parish. The bridge is more commonly known as the “New Bridge”, because it is the younger of the two bridges that cross the river in Baton Rouge)!.

…tentando sair do maior fluxo de tráfico que se concentra na área de  New Orleans, deixámos por algum tempo a estrada número 10, viajando pela estrada número 12!. (trying to get out of the largest flow of traffic that is concentrated in the New Orleans area, we have for some time left road number 10, traveling on road number 12)!.

…já o dia ia longo, estávamos dentro do estado de Mississippi, era quase noite, chovia, parávamos aqui e ali, procurando hotel para dormir, a resposta era de que havia qualquer evento na área de New Orleans, estavam cheios para os próximos dias!. Havia um ou dois parques de RV próximos, para onde telefonámos, a mensagem do telefone era que não havia vagas, estavam cheios, entretanto a noite já ia avançada, conformados, parámos numa qualquer saída da estrada. A nossa “White Fox”, tem tudo o que necessitamos para passar a noite  com algum conforto, o problema era estacionar, entrámos num popular super mercado, para comprar algo para comer, contando a nossa situação ao empregado que nos atendeu, logo nos disse com alguma gentileza: “Porque não estacionam aqui, no nosso espaço, ali junto àqueles, são bem vindos, estamos abertos toda a noite”!. Estavam lá algumas pequenas caravanas, na mesma situação que nós, foi o mesmo que fizemos!. Obrigado!.  Como podem ver companheiros de jornada, nem tudo é bom para quem anda na estrada, mas também nem tudo é mau, pois existe sempre alguém que gosta de ajudar!. (the day was long, we were in the state of Mississippi, it was almost night, it rained, we stopped here and there, looking for a hotel to sleep, the answer was that there was any event in the New Orleans area, they were full for the next days!. There were one or two RV parks nearby, where we phoned, the phone message was that there were no vacancies, they were full, but the night was already late, conformed, we stopped at any exit from the road. Our “White Fox” has everything we need to spend the night with some comfort, the problem was to park, we went into a popular super market, to buy something to eat, telling our situation to the employee who attended us, soon told us with some kindness: “Because they do not park here, in our space, there with those, welcome, we are open all night” !. There were some small caravans there, in the same situation as us, it was the same as we did !. Thank you!. As you can see fellow travelers, not everything is good for those who walk the road, but not everything is bad, as there is always someone who likes to help !.
