…era manhã cedo quando saímos do parque de RV, na cidade de Amarillo, Texas!. Apesar de na noite anterior, ter havido um “alerta” de que uma tempestade estava na área, a nós, já veteranos em tempestades, (vivemos na Florida), tomámos as devidas precauções!.

… It was early morning when we left the RV park in the city of Amarillo, Texas!. Although the night before, there was a “warning” that a storm was in the area, to us, already veterans in storms, (we lived in Florida), we took the proper precautions!

…no entanto, pela manhã até havia um “sol radiante”, quando parámos para visitar um pequeno parque alusivo à histórica “Route 66”, onde enterraram parte de alguns carros e…, os visitantes tal como nós, têm a liberdade de pintar o que quiserem com “tinta de spray” e…, foi o que também fizemos!.

…however, in the morning there was even a “radiant sun”, when we stopped to visit a small park alluding to the historic “Route 66”, where they buried some of some cars and…, visitors like us have the freedom to paint whatever “spray paint” and…, that’s what we did!.

…e, depois de comprar café, biscoitos e encher o tanque com gasolina na nossa “White Fox” (caravana), entrámos na estrada #287, tentando atravessar transversalmente e em direcção ao sul, o longo estado do Texas, ou seja chegar à cidade de Beaumont, ainda no já mencionado estado do Texas!.

…and after buying coffee, cookies and filling the tank with gasoline in our “White Fox”, we entered the road #287, trying to cross across and toward the south, the long state of Texas, ie reaching the city of Beaumont, still in the aforementioned state of Texas!.

…a estrada #287, tem um cenário de planície e de pastagens, onde em algumas áreas se podem ver vacas ou cavalos pastando, tal como plantações de milho, batata ou outros vegetais e aqui e ali poços de petróleo, com os seus engenhos trabalhando e…, o tráfico não é muito frequente, o que nos agrada a nós veteranos de estrada!.

…road #287, has a scenario of plain and pasture, where in some areas you can see cows or grazing horses, such as corn plantations, potatoes or other vegetables and here and there oil wells, with their mills working and…, trafficking is not very frequent, which pleases us road veterans!.

…entretanto passámos a cidade de Wichita Falls, com um tráfico quase normal!. Todavia, seguindo para a cidade de Fort Wort, ambas as linhas de rodagem da estrada, lentamente iam ficando cheias!. Resultado: o tráfico era muito lento e parava por segundos que imediatamente se transformavam em longos minutos!. 

…in the meantime we passed the city of Wichita Falls, with almost normal trafficking!. However, moving to the city of Fort Wort, both road lines, slowly becoming full!. Result: Trafficking was very slow and stopped for seconds that immediately turned into long minutes!. 

…todos queriam virar para a linha da direita ou da esquerda para seguirem a sua rota, (e nós facilitávamos), numa área onde depressa começou a chover com alguma intensidade o que paralisou o tráfico!. No entanto nós, pacientes, íamos seguindo até que saímos da cidade, voltando ao normal tráfico, embora a chuva continuasse a aumentar a intensidade, com a ajuda dum vento quase ciclónico!.

…everyone wanted to turn to the right or left line to follow their route, (and we made it easier), in an area where it quickly began to rain with some intensity which paralyzed the traffic!. However, we patients were following until we left the city, returning to normal traffic, although rain continued to increase the intensity, with the help of a almost cyclonic wind!.

…até que próximo da cidade de Corsicana, infelizmente, com a tempestade que se ia desenvolvendo, acontece um acidente, onde a polícia iniciou o desvio do tráfico!. E nós, já guiados pelo GPS, tentámos seguir o desvio, que nos levou a uma estrada de terra batida, onde regressavam alguns motociclistas cobertos de lama, o que nos desmotivou!. 

…until near the city of Corsicana, unfortunately, with the storm that was developing, there is an accident, where the police began the deviation from trafficking!. And we, already guided by GPS, tried to follow the deviation, which led us to a dirt road, where some mud -covered motorcyclists returned, which demotivated us!.

…tentando outro desvio, atrasou a nossa rota em algumas horas, originando, e na tentativa de chegar à já acima mencionada, cidade de Beaumont, já a noite ia alta e não havendo oportunidade de encontrar um parque de RV, parámos para pernoitar, (depois de gentilmente autorizados) no parque de estacionamento de uma grande superfície de estação de serviço, onde já se encontravam outras caravanas e camiões de longo curso, que possivelmente se encontravam na mesma situação!.

…trying another deviation, it delayed our route in a few hours, originating, and in an attempt to reach the aforementioned above, city of Beaumont, at night it was high and there is no opportunity to find an RV park, we stopped to stay overnight (after kindly authorized) in the parking lot of a large surface of service station, where other caravans and long -haul trucks were already in the same situation!    

…existem dias assim, em que não podemos ter uma boa “noite da cama”, num lugar mais confortável e seguro, (a policia local fez visitas periódicas durante a noite), porque embora o lugar onde pernoitámos seja seguro, era um pouco barulhento, porque os condutores de camiões, normalmente deixam os motores a trabalhar durante toda a noite mas…, aceitamos todas estas contrariedades, porque fazem parte da nossa aventura!.

…there are days like this, when we can’t have a good “night of bed”, in a more comfortable and safe place, (the local police made periodic visits at night), because although the place we stayed over is safe, it was a little noisy, because truck drivers usually leave the engines working all night but…, we accept all these contradiction, because they are part of our adventure!.
