…Alaska!.

…a aventura continua dentro de nós!. Somos assim, nascemos assim e…, se a saúde nos ajuda e as finanças não são assim tão catastróficas como se pode imaginar para um casal de idosos que ainda consegue pagar os custos de uma vida quase normal, que consome muito exercício, muita água e pouca comida, e claro, sempre acompanhada de alguma medicina de manutenção, que nos vai ajudando a viver o melhor que podemos “os tais anos de ouro que nos vão restando”!. 

…the adventure continues within us!. We are like this, we were born like this and…, if our health helps us and our finances are not as catastrophic as one might imagine for an elderly couple who can still pay the costs of an almost normal life, which consumes a lot of exercise, a lot of water and little food, and of course, always accompanied by some maintenance medicine, which helps us to live the best we can “the golden years that we have left”!.

…e, neste rumo de aventura, às vezes andamos por aí, onde a nossa “White Fox” (caravana) é a nossa segunda casa e…, viajando e vivendo nela por algum tempo, vai-nos ajudando a contemplar o mundo, levando-nos aos lugares mais remotos, como por exemplo o estado do Alaska onde a natureza ainda nos contempla!. 

…and, on this adventure path, sometimes we go around, where our “White Fox” (caravan) is our second home and…, traveling and living in it for some time, it helps us to contemplate the world, taking us to the most remote places, such as the state of Alaska, where nature still contemplates us!. 

…porquê?. Porque lá existem icebergs, montanhas cobertas de neve por milhar de anos, vulcões, rios selvagens onde os peixes abundam, lagos perdidos em florestas onde os animais vivem livres da presença humana ou ainda aldeias primitivas mas, sem qualquer dúvida…, “ver um urso marrom majestoso arrebatando salmão de um riacho do Alaska, é a memória de uma vida”!. 

…why?. Because there are icebergs, mountains covered in snow for thousands of years, volcanoes, wild rivers where fish abound, lakes lost in forests where animals live free from human presence or even primitive villages but, without any doubt…, “see a bear majestic brown salmon snatching from an Alaskan stream, it’s the memory of a lifetime”!. 

…e, por mais icônicos que sejam esses predadores quase gigantes, são apenas o começo do que por lá existe e…, mantendo os olhos abertos podemos admirar outros tipos de vida selvagem, como águias de colar branco, baleias cinzentas e  acrobáticas migrando para as suas áreas de alimentação, alces, linces, lobos ou caribus viajando em rebanhos tão grandes, que desaparecem no horizonte, tal como já tivemos o previlégio de ver quando viajámos na nossa “White Fox” (caravana), para o “Circulo Ártico”, pela famosa “Estrada de Dalton”!.

…and, as iconic as these almost giant predators are, they are just the beginning of what exists there and…, by keeping our eyes open we can admire other types of wildlife, such as white-collared eagles, gray and acrobatic whales migrating to their feeding areas, elk, lynx, wolves or caribou traveling in herds so large that they disappear over the horizon, just as we had the privilege of seeing when we traveled in our “White Fox” (caravan), to the “Arctic Circle”, along the famous “Dalton Highway”!.

…aqui, na região do “Circulo Ártico”, podemos aproveitar o sol da meia-noite, entre Março e Setembro, pois existe mais luz do dia do que em qualquer outro lugar dos outros 49 estados, porque ganha cinco minutos por dia, até meia hora por semana, tudo isto é incrível, ou quanto se encaixa em num dia em que o sol quase nunca se põe, então sim é outra, “memória de uma vida”!.

…here, in the “Arctic Circle” region, we can enjoy the midnight sun, between March and September, as there is more daylight than anywhere else in the other 49 states, because you get five minutes a day , up to half an hour a week, all of this is incredible, or how much it fits into on a day when the sun almost never sets, so yes it is another, “memory of a lifetime”!.

…a culinária também é diferente do usual e inclui caranguejos gigantes, alabote ou salmão e também podemos experimentar salsichas ou bifes de rena, tal como legumes frescos do Vale Matanuska e…, também a cerveja, onde quase todas as localidades têm a sua própria cerveja, dizendo sempre que é a melhor!.

…the cuisine is also different from the usual and includes giant crabs, halibut or salmon and we can also try sausages or reindeer steaks, as well as fresh vegetables from the Matanuska Valley and…, also beer, where almost every location has its own beer , always saying that it is the best!

…e para finalizar, escusado será dizer que não nos podemos esquecer que o estado do Alaska é a “última fronteira”,  auxiliando muito no campo das recordações, levar uns binóculos e uma máquina de fotografar, porque não vamos querer perder a oportunidade de fazer uma única fotografia ou memória, em qualquer passeio de observação da vida selvagem lá no estado do Alaska, bem lá no norte!.

…and finally, it goes without saying that we cannot forget that the state of Alaska is the “last frontier”, helping a lot in terms of memories, take some binoculars and a camera, because we don’t want to miss the opportunity to do a single photograph or memory, on any wildlife observation tour in the state of Alaska, far in the north!.

…Feliz Dia de Páscoa!. …Happy Easter Day!

…a Páscoa é uma época significativa do ano, pelo menos para os cristãos de todo o mundo!. A história diz-nos que é um momento para comemorar a ressurreição de Jesus Cristo e meditarmos sobre a esperança, ou seja, ele ressuscitou, teve vida de novo, como tal, talvez este exemplo nos leve a pensar em também prosseguir com a nossa vida, procurando ou talvez só pensando…, em novas aventuras ou novos horizontes!.

…Easter is a significant time of year, at least for Christians around the world! History tells us that it is a time to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ and meditate on hope, that is, he was resurrected, he had life again, as such, perhaps this example will lead us to think about also continuing with our lives , looking or maybe just thinking…, about new adventures or new horizons!.

… esta história da Páscoa tem alguma ternura, pelo menos para as crianças!. Porquê?. Porque se celebra na época da Primavera, e conta quase sempre com chocolates, pintainhos, ovos e coelhinhos, ou seja, com animais “fofinhos”, e algumas lojas que os comercializam consideram mesmo…, o seu monopólio da Páscoa!.

…this Easter story has some tenderness, at least for children! Why?. Because it is celebrated during the Spring season, and almost always features chocolates, chicks, eggs and bunnies, that is, “cute” animals, and some stores that sell them even consider… their Easter monopoly!.

…enfim, de uma maneira ou de outra, é uma época em que as famílias se reunem e muitas igrejas organizam eventos e serviços especiais que dão vida à história da Páscoa, envolvendo jovens e adultos, que vão divulgando a mensagem da “Última Ceia” com os discípulos antes da sua “Crucificação”, e nós…, devemos ter forças para também remover alguma “Pedra Grande” que se atravesse nas nossas vidas, para voltarmos a ver claramente.., o  “Túmulo Vazio”, tal como em outros tempos e a história nos diz…, o povo cristão viu!.

…finally, in one way or another, it is a time when families come together and many churches organize special events and services that bring the story of Easter to life, involving young people and adults, who spread the message of the “Last Supper” with the disciples before his “Crucifixion”, and we…, we must have the strength to also remove any “Big Stone” that stands in our lives, so that we can see clearly again…, the “Empty Tomb”, just like in other times and as history tells us…, the Christian people saw it!.

…companheiros de jornada, estejam onde estiverem, tenham todos uma Feliz Páscoa!. O nosso filho Tony quase todos os dias nos telefona e, tal como a sua virtuosa familia ficaram por Pennsylvania onde vivem, no entanto, a nossa filha Sandy e o seu dedicado marido Brian, trouxeram os nossos netos a visitar-nos e…, andam por aí no quintal à procura dos chocolates, dos pintainhos, dos ovos e dos coelhinhos…, que a também dedicada avó Isaura por lá escondeu!.

…fellow travellers, wherever you are, have a Happy Easter! Our son Tony calls us almost every day and, like his virtuous family, they stayed in Pennsylvania where they live, however, our daughter Sandy and her dedicated husband Brian, brought our grandchildren to visit us and…, they are out in the backyard looking for chocolates, chicks, eggs and bunnies…, which the also dedicated grandmother Isaura hid there!.

…estamos em Janeiro de 2024!. (…we are in January 2024)!.

…cremos que foram os egípcios ou os romanos, ou até talvez outros povos em diferentes épocas, que se lembraram de cortar o tempo em fatias e depois lhe deram o nome de “anos”!. Isto era o equivalente a doze meses de trinta ou mais dias e depois…, entrava o milagre da renovação e tudo começava outra vez do zero, ou seja, voltando tudo ao princípio talvez com outra vontade em acreditar que daqui em diante tudo iria ser diferente, mas na verdade, o ser humano hoje vai-se sentindo cada vez mais velho, cansado, desiludido e algo estúpido…, com as guerras que por aí vão pela conquista de territórios…, como se a terra pertencesse a alguém!.

…we believe that it was the Egyptians or the Romans, or even perhaps other people at different times, who remembered to cut time into slices and then gave it the name “years”!. This was the equivalent of twelve months of thirty or more days and then…, the miracle of renewal came in and everything started again from scratch, that is, going back to the beginning, perhaps with a different desire to believe that from now on everything would be different. , but in truth, human beings today feel increasingly older, tired, disillusioned and somewhat stupid…, with the wars that are going on for the conquest of territories…, as if the land belonged to someone!.

…mas, infelizmente isto são apenas obstáculos que com alguma sorte, de uma maneira ou de outra, somos forçados a contornar se queremos  sobreviver pelo menos outro período dos tais doze meses de trinta ou mais dias!. 

…but, unfortunately, these are just obstacles that with some luck, one way or another, we are forced to overcome if we want to survive at least another period of those twelve months of thirty or more days!.

…depois deste “desabafo” e continuando, vamos à história de hoje, que afinal não é história nenhuma!.

 …after this “outburst” and continuing, let’s get to today’s story, which after all isn’t a story at all!

…fomos caminhar à beira do canal!. Por algum tempo fomos livres e…, chegados a casa tiramos os sapatos, descalçando-nos dos nossos problemas!. Sentamo-nos em frente ao computador, escrevemos uma escrita muito mal escrita, ao lado pegamos num lápis rabiscando uns desenhos muito pouco profissionais!. Abrimos a boca querendo dizer bem alto o que nos vai no pensamento, que é desejar a todas as pessoas em todo o mundo e…, que são palavras como “paz, paz e paz, saúde, saúde e saúde, amor, amor e amor, liberdade, liberdade e liberdade”!. Querendo mesmo gritar bem alto, usando todas aquelas palavras que dizem que são censuradas, ou seja, na verdade…, queremos libertar-nos de nós mesmos!. 

…we went for a walk along the canal!. For a while we were free and…, when we got home we took off our shoes, taking off our problems!. We sat in front of the computer, wrote some very poorly written writing, and next to it we picked up a pencil and scribbled some very unprofessional drawings!. We open our mouths wanting to say out loud what is on our minds, which is to wish all people around the world and…, which are words like “peace, peace and peace, health, health and health, love, love and love, freedom, freedom and freedom”!. Really wanting to scream out loud, using all those words that say they are censored, that is, in fact…, we want to free ourselves from ourselves!.

…porquê?. Porque qualquer coisa nos espicaça para fugir desta realidade que é o mundo de hoje com fome, destruição e países envolvidos em guerras com milhares de soldados e pessoas inocentes mortas e…, outros países que auxiliam com dinheiro e bombas, para que essas guerras perdurem até à eternidade!. NÃO DIALOGANDO, PARA QUE AS GUERRAS ACABEM!.

…why?. Because anything encourages us to escape this reality that is today’s world with hunger, destruction and countries involved in wars with thousands of soldiers and innocent people killed and…, other countries that help with money and bombs, so that these wars last until to eternity!. NOT DIALOGUE, SO THAT THE WARS END!.

…ao pensar em tudo isto, somos tal qual crianças e…, em lugar de sorrir com ingenuidade…, CHORAMOS!. E também nos lembramos de que os nossos pais e avós, lá na aldeia serrana da Europa perto do mar onde nascemos e fomos criados, nos diziam que quando temos um problema com alguém devíamos falar e esclarecer o problema, no entanto depois…, quando já adultos fazemos precisamente o contrário!. Mas quanto aos adultos…, são seres estranhos, contradizem-se a todo o momento e só acrescentam problemas aos problemas porque se focam apenas na sua verdade e, é nela que vivem o resto das suas vidas!.

…when thinking about all this, we are just like children and…, instead of smiling naively…, WE CRY!. And we also remember that our parents and grandparents, back in the mountain village in Europe near the sea where we were born and raised, told us that when we have a problem with someone we should talk and clarify the problem, however later…, when we already adults do precisely the opposite! But as for adults…, they are strange beings, they contradict themselves all the time and only add problems to problems because they only focus on their truth, and that is what they live the rest of their lives in!.

…bem, parece que nos baralhámos um pouco na escrita de hoje e não sabemos como, é tal como querendo ser sempre sinceros…, nos contradizemos a cada minuto, no entanto, amanhã já é outra vez domingo…, ufff, como o tempo nos foge, já estamos em 2024!.

…well, it seems that we got a little confused in today’s writing and we don’t know how, it’s just like we always want to be honest…, we contradict ourselves every minute, however, tomorrow it’s Sunday again…, ufff, how the weather makes us run away, it’s already 2024!
