…o beijo da meia-noite!. (…the midnight kiss)!.

…esperamos sempre ter aprendido algo com o ano de 2020, ou com o dia de ontem, porque o amanhã é a coisa mais importante da nossa vida e, oxalá chegue a nós a meia-noite de hoje, limpa, saudável e sem nos trazer mais mal, levando o maldito “coronavírus19” para milhões de anos luz de distância, e o ano de 2021 se coloque em paz em nossas mãos!.

(…we always hope to have learned something from 2020, or yesterday, because tomorrow is the most important thing in our life and, hopefully, it reaches us at midnight today, clean, healthy and without bringing us worse, taking the damn “coronavirus19” millions of light years away, and the year 2021 is at peace in our hands)!.

…já não somos jovens, nascemos na Europa à quase oito dezenas de anos, descendentes de um grupo étnico indígena do país Portugal, uma nação Românica que compartilha uma cultura, ancestralidade e língua portuguesa comuns, uma herança derivada em grande parte dos pré-Celtas que foram Romanizados após a conquista da região pelos antigos Romanos, muitos séculos atrás!.

…de onde nos dizem que nasceu a tradição de beijar no Ano Novo, uma prática que remonta à Europa, desde os antigos Romanos, que davam uma grande festa a cada véspera de Ano Novo, chamada de Festival de Saturnália, onde se beijavam pretendendo trazer boa sorte para o futuro, especialmente para aquele ou aquela que beijavam!.

…sobretudo para casais românticos, chamavam o “beijo da meia-noite”, quase sempre ao som de música, em lugares de divertimento, experimentando uma nova cozinha no seu clube ou restaurante favorito, estourando garrafas, planejando fugas para lugares mais discretos e comendo uvas para ter boa sorte!. Infelizmente neste momento de pandemia, nada disto pode ser realizado!.

…e nós, continuando com a nossa pequena história do “beijo da meia-noite”, trocámos de continente!. Um continente novo, neste mundo na parte de cá do Atântico, sujeitando-nos a um idioma e costumes diferentes, abertos à civilização ocidental há pouco mais de dois séculos apenas, junto de pessoas comuns e de alguns considerados heróis, que até podem ser personagens ficcionadas, ruidosas, fúteis e cansativas, mas que nos receberam de braços abertos!.

…and we, continuing with our little story of the “midnight kiss”, have changed continents!. A new continent, in this world in this part of the Atlantic, subjecting us to a different language and customs, open to Western civilization just over two centuries ago, together with ordinary people and some considered heroes, who may even be characters fictional, noisy, futile and tiring, but they welcomed us with open arms)!.

…ajudando-nos a sobreviver e a manter o fogão da cozinha a funcionar, a ter a medicina diária de manutenção, água na torneira, assim como algum papel higiénico no quarto de banho, (que algumas pessoas da nossa geração chamam de “papel pró cú”), fazendo com que no momento da presente crise a vamos tornando menor, porque lá fora, no mundo real, milhares, talvez milhões de seres humanos, nunca terão de volta, a sua vida normal!.

(…helping us to survive and keep the kitchen stove running, to have daily maintenance medicine, tap water, as well as some toilet paper in the bathroom, (which some people in our generation call “pro paper butt”), making it smaller at the moment of the present crisis, because out there, in the real world, thousands, perhaps millions of human beings, will never have their normal lives back)!.

…vai-te ano de 2020, estamos fartos de estar confinados, queremos sair do covil, queremos abraçar a primavera, correr na areia da praia, mergulhar na água do oceano competindo com os golfinhos, caminhar nas florestas no verão, visitar a família e os amigos no norte, mesmo usando a máscara e mantendo a distância adequada, porque estamos esgotados de ver tanta crueldade e, na parte interior do nosso corpo, onde devia existir alegria, amor e esperança, só há lugar para o mêdo e o horror!.

(…Year 2020 goes by, we are tired of being confined, we want to leave the lair, we want to embrace the spring, run in the sand of the beach, dive in the ocean water competing with the dolphins, walk in the forests in the summer, visit the family and friends in the north, even wearing the mask and keeping the proper distance, because we are tired of seeing so much cruelty and, inside our body, where there should be joy, love and hope, there is only room for fear and horror)!.

…é a história do tempo e não vamos fazer mais considerações, vamos tentar viver dia a dia, hora a hora ou minuto a minuto, todavia queremos um ano de 2021 novo e limpo, sobretudo de pandemias, sem nunca culpar a natureza pelo que nos está a acontecer, porque no fundo, no fundo, a culpa é dos humanos, que tentaram maltratá-la, a tal natureza pura, e ela, além de se revoltar, vingou-se!.

(…it is the history of time and we will not make any more considerations, we will try to live day by day, hour by hour or minute by minute, however we want a new and clean Year of 2021, especially pandemics, without ever blaming nature for what we it is happening, because deep down, deep down, it is the fault of humans, who tried to mistreat her, such a pure nature, and she, in addition to revolt, took revenge)!.
