…Dia 3 – em Pennsylvania! (Day 3 – in Pennsylvania)!

…no estado de Pennsylvania, onde vive parte da nossa família, passámos um maravilhoso dia!. A nossa amável nora Kathy, mãe do Cody e do Dawson, nossos adorados netos, pois o nosso filho Tony, estava ausente no seu trabalho profissional, tudo fizeram para compensar a ausência humana, que temos durante o ano, pois contacto existe sempre, via telefone, internet e outros meios de comunicação modernos!. (in the state of Pennsylvania, where part of our family lives, we had a wonderful day!. Our lovely daughter-in-law Kathy, mother of Cody and Dawson, our beloved grandchildren, since our son Tony, was absent from his professional work, did everything to compensate for the human absence we have during the year, since contact always exists via telephone, internet and other modern means of communication)!.

…descemos a montanha, que é a área onde vivem, visitámos mais uma vez a Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, onde existe o Vale Minisink, que é um vale enterrado, onde o Rio Delaware flui, ao longo da linha estadual Pennsylvania/Nova Jersey, numa cama glacial, por milhões de anos, até que enterrou uns rochedos eroditos durante o último período glacial!. Logo em seguida, sai do cume Kittatinny, que cruza no Delaware Water Gap, entre quase paredes verticais de arenito, quartzito e outras rochas, fazendo aqui uma grande curva, seguindo tranquilo para sul, por fazendas, florestas e planaltos, cruzando entre outras áreas, a planície dos Apalaches, antes de entrar no Oceano Atlântico!. (we descended the mountain, which is the area where they live, once again visited the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, where there is the Valley Minisink, which is a buried valley, where the Delaware River flows, along the Pennsylvania state line New Jersey, in a glacial bed, for millions of years, until it buried eroded rocks during the last glacial period! …a este rio, que antes da chegada dos Europeus, era a pátria dos nativos americanos Lenape, e lhe chamavam o rio Lenapewihittuk ou rio Lenape e Kithanne, que significa o maior rio nesta parte do país!. Nasce nas montanhas de Catskill, no estado de Nova Yorque, fui por 419 milhas, (674 km), até à Baía de Delaware, onde as suas águas entram no Oceano Atlântico, depois de passar pelos estados de Nova Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland e Delaware!. (to this river, which before the arrival of the Europeans, was the homeland of the Lenape Native Americans, and they called it the river Lenapewihittuk or river Lenape and Kithanne, which means the largest river in this part of the country!. Born in the Catskill Mountains of New York State, I drove for 419 miles (674 km) to the Delaware Bay, where its waters enter the Atlantic Ocean, after passing through the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Delaware)!.

…também é famoso, pois foi o cenário do famoso “Delaware Crossing”, que envolveu o cruzamento de barco improvisado realizado pelo exército de George Washington durante a Batalha de Trenton da Revolução Americana na noite de 25 a 26 de Dezembro de 1776, como parte de um sucessivo ataque surpresa contra as tropas de Hessian que ocupavam Trenton, New Jersey! (is also famous as it was the scene of the famous “Delaware Crossing”, which involved the improvised boat crossing conducted by George Washington’s army during the Battle of Trenton of the American Revolution the night of December 25 to 26, 1776, as part of a successive surprise attack on the Hessian troops occupying Trenton, New Jersey)!.

…mas agora, neste momento, talvez querendo voltar ao período glaciar, nesta área está congelado, andámos por cima das sua águas, tirando fotografias e admirando um cenário para recordar! Dia 4 – para Nova Jersey!. (Day 4 – to New Jersey)!.

…passámos a fronteira para o estado de Nova Jersey, onde vamos conviver com a outra parte da nossa família e, assistir ao nascimento de mais um membro do nosso “Clã”!. (we have crossed the border into the state of New Jersey, where we are going to live with the other part of our family and witness the birth of yet another member of our “Clan”)!.

…depois de algumas dezenas de milhas, chegámos à cidade onde vivem a nossa filha Sandy, com o seu dedicado marido Brian, o nosso neto Brian Anthony e a nossa neta Ava, esperando em breve outro descendente!. (after a few tens of miles, we came to the city where our daughter Sandy lives, with her devoted husband Brian, our grandson Brian Anthony and our granddaughter Ava, soon expecting another descendant)!.
