…um final perfeito, para um dia perfeito!…. (A perfect end to a perfect day)!.

…depois de um longo dia de sol radiante, haverá algo mais significativo, mais memorável do que testemunhar um pôr do sol épico?. (After a long day of radiant sun, will there be something more meaningful, more memorable than witnessing an epic sunset)?.

…nós, felizmente tivémos esse previlégio e, foi aqui perto do lugar onde vivemos, foi numa área do rio Halifax, que foi estabelecida há cerca de 7.000 anos, por tribos nativas americanas que foram ancestrais de tribos como por exemplo os índios “Timucuá”, onde os nativos viviam de peixes e ostras, deixando montes de conchas em ambos os lados do rio Halifax que, anos mais tarde foram usadas pelos colonos para construir estradas, mas algumas permanecem na área, hoje preservados como locais históricos!. (We fortunately had this privilege, and it was here near the place where we live, it was in an area of the Halifax River that was established some 7,000 years ago by Native American tribes that were ancestors of tribes such as the Indians “Timucua”, where the natives lived on fish and oysters, leaving mounds of shells on both sides of the Halifax River that years later were used by settlers to build roads, but some remain in the area, now preserved as historic sites)!.

…lugares históricos que, tanto nós como a nossa dedicada esposa Isaura, gosta de apreciar e, como tal nos referenciou e convidou para um passeio, navegando sobre as águas do rio Halifax, que é parte da hidrovia intracostal do oceano Atlântico, que originalmente era conhecida como o Rio Mosquito do Norte, mas foi renomeada após George Montagu-Dunk, 2º Conde de Halifax, durante a ocupação britânica da Flórida!. (Historical sites that we and our devoted wife Isaura enjoy and, as such referenced us and invited us for a walk, sailing on the waters of the Halifax River, which is part of the intracostal waterway of the Atlantic Ocean, which originally was known as the Northern Mosquito River, but was renamed after George Montagu-Dunk, 2nd Earl of Halifax, during the British occupation of Florida)!.

…viajámos de nossa casa pelo fim da tarde, para sul, para a cidade de Daytona, onde embarcámos num barco típico dos rios do sul, navegando sobre as águas salgadas do rio Halifax, experimentando além da viajem, um cenário de pontes e pequenas ilhas, vendo golfinhos saltar na frente da embarcação, usufruindo de alguma comida e informação histórica!. (We drove from our home in the late afternoon, south, to Daytona, where we boarded a typical southern river boat, sailing over the salty waters of the Halifax River, experiencing in addition to traveling, a landscape of bridges and small islands, watching dolphins jumping in front of the boat, enjoying some food and historical information)!.

…é costume escrever sobre as nossas experiências favoritas, principalmente ao redor desta nação!. Felizmente temos muitas opções para escolher, não só através de milhares de fotos mas, às vezes ficamos impressionados com cenários de pôr do sol magníficos que tivémos a sorte de testemunhar!. ( It is customary to write about our favorite experiences, especially around this nation!. Luckily we have many options to choose from, not only through thousands of photos but sometimes we were impressed with magnificent sunset scenarios that we were lucky enough to witness)!.

…observando o grande sol oriental mergulhar abaixo do horizonte, maravilhando-nos com a forma como se vê através das pontes e do reflexo das das águas do rio, que brilham e mudavam de cor à medida que o dia chega ao fim, ficando nós consistentemente surpresos com este cenário único do pôr-do-sol no rio Halifax!. (Watching the great eastern sun dive below the horizon, marveling at how you see yourself through the bridges and the reflection of the waters of the river, which shine and change color as the day comes to an end, we were consistently surprised by this unique setting of the sunset on the Halifax River)!.

…quando o sol começou a mergulhar atrás dos edifíos e das pontes, às nossas costas, transformou-se no que originalmente parecia ser um arenito laranja, ou até uma linda rosa, iluminando as águas do rio, e nós, empoleirados na beira do barco, com o vento assobiando, trazendo-nos um momento de pura felicidade e tranquilidade!. (As the sun began to dive behind the buildings and bridges behind us, it became what originally appeared to be an orange sandstone, or even a beautiful rose, illuminating the waters of the river, and we, perched on the edge of the boat, with the wind whistling, bringing us a moment of pure happiness and tranquility)!.

…foi um daqueles momentos que vamos valorizar, talvez até ao fim da nossa vida, foi um daqueles momentos em que, quando estivermos tristes ou aborrecidos, vamos fechar os olhos e vamos imaginar, sentados em qualquer lugar, com o mundo debaixo dos nossos pés, pensando numa das 7 maravilhas do mundo, cintilante, que vai subir na nossa frente!. (It was one of those moments that we will value, perhaps even the end of our life, was one of those moments when, when we are sad or bored, let’s close our eyes and imagine, sitting anywhere, with the world under the our feet, thinking of one of the 7 wonders of the world, sparkling, that will rise in front of us)!.

…voltando à história do rio Halifax, os espanhóis trouxeram frades franciscanos e estabeleceram missões católicas na Flórida, na tentativa de converter os nativos ao cristianismo, chegando no seu auge a haver 44 missões espanholas na Flórida e, algumas delas foram na área do rio Halifax!. (Returning to the history of the Halifax River, the Spaniards brought Franciscan friars and established Catholic missions in Florida in an attempt to convert the natives to Christianity, reaching its peak at 44 Spanish missions in Florida and some of them in the area of the river Halifax)!.

…naquela época, os espanhóis também recrutaram os nativos para cultivar alimentos em fazendas primitivas, no entanto, epidemias de febre amarela em 1649, varíola em 1650 e sarampo em 1659 dizimou a população indiana e espanhola na Flórida, com várias revoltas indianas, que também dizimaram ainda mais a população e, na época em que a Espanha cedeu a Flórida aos britânicos, por volta do ano de 1763, eles tiveram pouco progresso para mostrar por seus esforços na colônia e, a Flórida ficou como uma “concha oca”, praticamente desprovida de população, quando os espanhóis foram evacuados!. ..e nós, esquecendo um pouco a história, apreciando o cenário magnífico da queda pelo pôr-do-sol, depois de um dia de viagem, navegando pelo rio Halifax, explorando novos lugares e espaços, adorámos assistir à tarde chegar ao fim, sob um arco-íris de cores!. Um final perfeito para um dia perfeito!. (And we, forgetting the story a little, enjoying the magnificent setting of the sunset fall, after a day of travel, sailing the Halifax River, exploring new places and spaces, we loved to watch the afternoon come to an end, under a rainbow of colors!.
