…Expedição ao Alaska24 (Dia 7) …Alaskan Expedition24 (Day 7)

…when we travel we always hope that the sun can bring us new energy with each mile we travel, that the breeze will breathe new strength into us, that the rain will wash away our worries and that the light reflected by the moon will restore our strength during the journey. night, so that the next day…, everything helps us to continue our journey smoothly through the world and admire all its beauty!.

…vamos então explicar o resumo deste sétimo dia nesta “Terceira Expedição ao Alaska”!.

…so let’s explain the summary of this seventh day on this “Third Expedition to Alaska”!

…in the 459 miles covered, we traveled on fast, well-circulated and almost deserted roads!

…on others, crossing plains and small towns and villages, with sections under repair and speed control when we passed through said towns and villages!.

…and finally we arrived at the desired place to travel and admire, which is called “Going-to-the-Sun Road”, which is a picturesque mountain road in the Rocky Mountains, and is the only road that crosses Glacier Park in Montana, crossing the Continental Divide through Logan Pass at an elevation of 6,646 feet!.

…at the entrance, the ranger, after identifying ourselves as world travelers, kindly told us that the road is closed for avalanche repairs but…, allowed us to travel a distance of around 30 to 35 miles, of course , all under our responsibility! Thanking you…, that’s what we did!

…this wonderful road, originally built to promote tourism and encourage people to visit America’s national parks, has achieved its purpose since its completion in 1932, with an approximately 60-mile artery running through “Glacier National Park” of Montana”, across the Rocky Mountains and over the Continental Divide at Logan Pass!.

Valeu a pena!.

…we are advised to be sure to watch out for blind curves and dramatic drops, and to avoid going through them in the winter months, (we were in MAY-FLOWERS) when the snowbanks can be up to 80 feet deep!. The road rises to an elevation of 6,646 feet, with expansive views, grazing mountain goats and covered in rainbow-hued wildflower meadows!. Worth it!.

…continuing, we were close to the border with Canada, which we crossed…, after the friendly border guard asked us for our documents and asked those regulatory questions, including whether we were carrying “marijuana”!. To all the questions, we answered “NO”, and she, with a smile, handed us the documents and wished us “have a good trip”!

…and so we ended up crossing the border into Canada on the seventh day of our journey!. As such, we are making some progress and slowly getting closer to the goal that is…, Alaska!.

…near the city of Cardston, in the province of Alberta, we spent the night in an RV park, and tomorrow we continue our route towards the north along good or bad roads, and this makes us think that trips never end…, only travelers end! So, we veterans are trying to prolong them in memories, in memories, in narratives…, now, for the younger ones!

…Expedição ao Alaska24 (Dia 5) …Alaskan Expedition24 (Day 5)

…travel, sometimes is not a luxury, it is a necessity of the human spirit…, and we, at this slightly advanced age, one of the other reasons, we travel because we feel uncomfortable because we are too comfortable!.  And when we travel, the world is our home, the sky is our roof where we hang our cap and…, all the people we meet in the most remote places we travel…, are part of our family, because we prefer to look at our life, and say, “I can’t believe I did this” instead of saying, “If only I had done this”!

…so let’s explain where we’ve been on this fifth day!

…early in the morning we left the city of Cody, Wyoming heading west, on what is considered the road with the most beautiful scenery in the state of Wyoming (SR #16-20-14) that took us to Yellowstone National Park! . We were heading towards the Rocky Mountain Range, the sky was clear and blue and…, at a certain point on our route a slightly unusual scenery appeared!.

…it was a rock formation beyond a small river that flowed gently and that…, after reading the caption written on a panel, it said that that area became known as “Holy City”, of course, all this after some tourist groups that visited the Yellowstone area to say: “its profile was reminiscent of ancient Jerusalem”!.

…and the name of the “Holy City” stuck! And we, after admiring the scenery, realized that the entire area is a unique rock formation created millions of years ago, perhaps through violent volcanic eruptions! There were other travelers like us who stopped and admired the scenery and some said that they knew the legend and that: “every time they pass by it is different because the sun is different, in the morning there are many shadows and you can see towers”!. Others said: “we don’t think of them as towers, not so much as a city, but as a collection of towers”!. To us, it also seemed like a collection of towers and…, they were stunning and worth stopping by!

…we continued our route westwards, stopping at the eastern entrance to Yellowstone National Park for a photo next to the information panel!. This park is famous for, among other attractions, it has its “Geysers”, which are hot springs, which erupt periodically, releasing a column of hot water and steam into the air…, which we can observe, walking along some “treadmills”. ”, in wood that gives us access, right in front of the columns of hot water and steam, which are lost in the atmosphere!.

…the center of the great Yellowstone ecosystem, is one of the largest remaining temperate climate ecosystems on the planet and…, the most famous “Geyser” in the world, called “Old Faithful”, which we can get close to, is located in this park!.

…fortunately not during our visit, but Yellowstone has recorded three major eruptive events in the last 2.2 million years, the last of which occurred approximately 640,000 years ago!. These eruptions are the largest to occur on this “pebble” that we call Earth and…, during that period of time, they caused some changes in the climate in periods subsequent to their occurrence!.

…and even more so, because we are also told that, long before there was a human presence in Yellowstone, as this presence dates back more or less 11,000 years, a large volcanic eruption ejected an immense volume of volcanic ash that covered the entire western USA , most of the Midwest, northern Mexico and some areas of the east coast of the Pacific Ocean, leaving a huge volcanic caldera, sitting on a magma chamber!.

…after explaining this list of events, we walked around the park, almost everywhere we could access it!. Stopping here and there, we saw the “Geysers”, with their different colors, which correspond to the different minerals, that spring from their interior, waterfalls of pure water, coming out of the mountains, rivers of hot water, we crossed the “Continental Divide”, which is the name given to the set of lines formed by a series of ridges in North America, which separate the river basins that drain into the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, including the Gulf of Mexico and even the Arctic Ocean, where one of the its dividing lines, passes here in Yellowstone Park!.

…we were also fortunate to see some animals, of which the park is said to have a wide variety of wildlife, including black and brown bears, wolves, buffalo, elk and many other animals!.

…and the day was a dazzling blue sky…, with enough time to head south and enter Grand Teton National Park, which occupies a valley, fed by the Snake River, which very often forms small lakes, or a one of its tributaries, the Gros Ventre River, which also passes through here before entering Yellowstone National Park!.

..wildlife here is also constant, even seen from the road or in our frequent stops, enjoying among others, the highest peak of the Teton mountains, the “Grand Teton”, which was named by a French hunter, who must of being a romantic person, because when observing it, from the side of the state of Idaho, he immediately called it “tetons”, which is said to be a French slang term that designates “nipples” and…, whose average elevation of the valley is more than 6,500 feet above sea level, where the great mountains of the Teton Range appear, which can reach more than another 6,500 feet in height!.

…the last time we visited this park, in some areas and at times it was snowing, making it almost impossible to stop in some places where the scenery was stunning, however, this time there were almost blue skies, and there was time to photograph the ruins of the park. which is considered the most photographed barn in the USA, west of the road known as Mormon Row, close to the mountain range that is almost above it, forming an impressive visual composition!. However, the site is not just famous because it is photogenic, because the barn is all that remains of the property built by Thomas Alma Moulton and his sons between 1912 and 1945!.

…and the end of the day approached and…, as per Yellowstone National Park regulations, no one can sleep inside the park without authorization and, as at this time of year, only one or two RV parks inside are open and with reservations a few months ago, of course, they are sold out, that is, there is no place!. Result!. We left, sleeping outside on the west side, in the state of Montana, and returned to the park the next morning!.

…Expedição ao Alaska24 (Dia 3) …Alaskan Expedition24 (Day 3)

…the day started with more sunshine than the previous day, fortunately, and for us the blue sky made the trip much more pleasant!.

…and, in the 687 miles covered, we continued our journey towards the west and just like the previous day, the scenery of fast road number 70, was of long deserted areas, abandoned farms in sometimes isolated places, but there were the trees in around it, some of them already old, perhaps as old as the house!

…here and there, there were also some corn or wheat plantations, some herds of cows, areas transformed into hunting areas, working oil wells or wind-powered energy mills!.

…it was typical Kansas plains scenery!. All this up to the border with the state of Colorado, because from there the scenario changed a little, with there being more movement on the road, which was actually quite damaged, with potholes and in need of repair and the towns were more frequent)!. However, looking at the horizon, one could already see the Rocky Mountain Range with snow at the top, coming from the south and going all the way to Canada!.

Claro, desanimados…, desistimos desta aventura!

…at a certain point on our route we started to deviate a little south with the intention of traveling along the highest paved road in the USA, in the Rocky Mountain Range, that is, passing through the Mount Blue Sky Scenic Byway, formerly known as Mt. Evans, where we can have stunning views of the Rocky Mountain Range, however, upon arrival we found that there is a timed entry system that requires advance reservation…, 30 days in advance!. Of course, discouraged…, we gave up on this adventure!

…until we arrived in the city of Denver! We passed the city after making some backwards and forwards, because the “GPS know-it-all” always tells us the shortest distance between two points, but sometimes those two points, for whatever reason, are under repair and require detours and So… it’s already a problem for those who live very far from this beautiful and prosperous city!

…it was a few years ago when we first passed through the city of Denver and…, we always wanted to visit this city with some available time but…, this never happened and today the afternoon was already ending and our route for the day would have to be followed!. However, we still tried to go and see Larimer Street, where Larimer Square is easily the most typical block in the city, where you can enjoy window shopping in chic boutiques, see among other attractions, restaurants or watch a street show, or even see up close the historic train station, Union Station which has been revitalized as the heart of downtown Denver!.

…anyway, time was short and we had to continue our journey north, so we went there again at the mercy of the “GPS know-it-all”, knowing where to find an RV park to spend the night, supplies or gasoline, and the better than anything and as the day was almost coming to an end…, we also knew that we would find a good place to watch the sunset!, which came to us in a small town on fast road number 25 heading north, coming from bustling city of Denver, almost on the border with the state of Wyoming!.

Tony Borie.

…Expedição ao Alaska24 (Dia 2) …Alaskan Expedition24 (Day 2)

…today, in the 789 miles traveled in the states of Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Kansas, and as it was a national holiday, the roads were a little crowded!. There was even a huge accident on highway number 24 in Kentucky, where people without uniforms immediately began to divert traffic to other rural areas, which took us for approximately two hours to have even more contact with pure nature, where we traveled through areas of Cereal fields, lakes, small climbs, descents and frequent tight curves, making it seem like we were riding on a “carousel”!.

…of course, as we mentioned above, we were already traveling through the state of Kentucky, which many people believed that the origin of the state’s name came from an “Amerindian” word that means “dark and bloody hunting ground”, however, currently, it is believed that The word Kentucky can be attributed to numerous indigenous languages, with various meanings such as “land of tomorrow”, “land of sugarcane and turkeys” or “still lands”!.

…continuing on this same fast road, we crossed the bridge over the Ohio River, entering the state of Illinois, where, in this southern part of the state, we often saw some farms surrounded by cultivated fields, as agriculture is an important source of income , not only because of its fertile and slightly rugged terrain, but also because of its highly unstable climate!.

…with this scenario, we arrived at the intersection of fast roads, where road 24 ends, entering number 57, which comes from the south, and would also take us to fast road number 64, heading towards the west, which without the Note, we were following the route that French missionaries took many years ago, as they were the first Europeans to explore the region of the current state of Illinois!.

…and we, thinking about history and listening to some music, began to cross some small, old or large bridges, approaching the city of St. Louis, in the state of Missouri, which was also founded by the French, and is located at the confluence of the Mississippi River and the Missouri River, functioning at the time as a commercial warehouse.

…in particular, we are enchanted by the city of St. Louis, as at that time it became a starting point for explorers of the American West and settlers who emigrated to the West and today, anyone who comes close to the city, even from many miles away, You can see a stunning scenery, where the “Gateway Arch” stands out, a monument that identifies the city, which is said to be the tallest monument on North American soil!.

…we continued our journey towards the West!. Following the fast road number 70, with long deserted areas, abandoned farms, here and there, we can also see the typical village house, with the fence around the yard, the dog tied to a chain, the cows grazing, a small yard Around the house, a well with a “pulley”, close to a stream, or a place where there is water!.

…sometimes they are isolated places, but there are trees around them, some of them old, perhaps as old as the house! There are also some corn or wheat plantations, some herds of cows, areas transformed into hunting zones, working oil wells or wind-powered power mills!. All this until the city of Kansas, still in the state of Missouri, as there are two cities with the name Kansas, one in the state of Missouri, the other in the state of Kansas!.

…after crossing the city of Kansas we continued traveling along highway number 70 and…, night was approaching!. So due to the morning delay in the disaster on Highway 24 in the state of Kentucky and also because it was a national holiday, the RV parks were all full and our communications to find a place had the same response, “sorry we are full”! . Result…, we stayed the night in a modest hotel, in a small rural town, in the state of Kansas!.

…Expedition to Alaska24 (Day 1) …Alaskan Expedition24 (Day 1)

…we were already a bit of a veteran when we started our “Third Expedition to the Territory of Alaska”!. It was a return to pure nature on an almost limitless journey where fortunately there are still some of the most extreme environments that Mother Nature has to offer us!.

…and, it was not very easy at this early age to organize an expedition of approximately 16,000 miles, where the difficulties would be many, because at this time of year repairs will begin on roads, bridges and other structures, as a result of avalanches and Thawing of the snow that covers the mountains that we would cross, mainly in northern Canada!.

…to prepare ourselves, we first made medical visits, long daily walks, careful eating and above all a complete diagnosis of our “White Fox” (caravan), which always reacted positively to the difficulties that arose here and there…, both in long journey there and back like in the different corners where we walked in this still very wild territory of Alaska, where temperatures drop well below zero and people walk in two worlds, “one of the traditional ways and one of the challenges of the 21st century” !.

…all this, not mentioning the wildlife of America’s last frontier, where in the south of the territory survivals are dictated by the tides, which in certain regions can reach a difference of approximately 20 to 25 feet, and in the north these same survivals are dictated (by the temperatures of arctic climates where, in particular, winter does not turn everything into a wonderland and shows us the difficulties experienced by those who live in the lands close to the Yukon River, where they still use the knowledge transmitted from generation to generation to survive and prosper!.

…after this little dialogue, let’s start our “Third Expedition to Alaska”!.

…convinced that we would be graced and warmed by the wonderful sunlight that, after passing approximately the 43º N parallel, we benefited from 16 to 20 hours a day, sometimes more, and would illuminate us in some of the most beautiful landscapes in the world!.

…it was at the end of May when we began a journey towards the west, just before beginning a curve to the north, then again to the west, but always in a northerly direction, which we knew would be complete with snow storms, rain , rocks and dust, mud, floods and road repair areas, improvised wooden bridges, crossing some rivers on rafts!.

…sleeping and sometimes cooking, or going to some cheap restaurants in rural locations, enjoying only the limited comfort of our “White Fox” (caravan), while we went to see new things and also meet new people, because for us, there is no nothing better than the silence and the scenery of a mountain covered in snow, a natural lake, whose bottom is a mountain in reverse, bathing in a wild river with warm and crystal clear water, which springs from the depths of the earth, or even from A long stretch of desert road, which for us world travelers, teaches us more than a hundred years of tranquility!.

…as such, in the early hours of the morning the final preparations for our “Third Expedition to Alaska”, leaving our home in the state of Florida, which is located in the southeast region, being the southernmost state of the 48 states in the continental part of the USA, taking some basic necessities of food, some clothes, both for heat, rain or cold, some fishing equipment, maps, information about the states to cross, some tools, in case the “White Fox” (caravan) needs helps, and of course, without forgetting daily medicine!

…heading north, almost always guided by the “know-it-all GPS”, diverting a little west, passing through the state of Georgia, crossing the city of Atlanta with some difficulty with traffic, as there is a large network of roads that If you cross this area and, if you don’t go very carefully, there is no GPS available!

…we continue crossing part of this state of Tennessee, passing through some towns or cities, which during the period of British colonization was the region of the Thirteen Colonies, which at the time were part of the current state of North Carolina!. However, as it approached dark, we spent the night near the city of Nashville, in an RV Park, after traveling approximately 628 miles!.

(…things that deep  down, deep down… amuse us)!.

…nothing better than walking on some trails around the place where we live, so we can analyze the behavior of certain people more accurately!. Many even go unnoticed, but some…, when we stop to rest a little and sit down on one of those community benches that we sometimes find, make some things emerge from our memory that deep down, deep down… amuse us!.

…for example, a blonde lady wanting to prove that she was still in her forties, although in our opinion it had been more than ten or fifteen years since that period, who had pink bows in her hair, more appropriate for school girls Primary school, and who was excited walking and smiling whenever he came across someone, going after his little dog, which had been combed like her owner and also wore two identical pink bows on her head!.

…so similar they were! She called her little dog with her own diminutives, using a language that curiously became sweet whenever she was addressed!. And the naughty little dog, vain like her owner, gave off the air of a spoiled girl, all coquettish and attentive!

…the morning was radiant, with a blue sky!. As we passed by we said, “good morning at two”!. The lady smiled and was not offended! That was what was missing! Looking at the trees around the trail next to the Saltwater Channel, the lady and the dog made a scene similar to those we sometimes see in Walt Disney films, and that deep down, deep down…, they amuse us!.

…fragmentos do tempo, do tempo que nos resta!. (…fragments of time, of the time we have left)!

…in the village where we were born, there on that mountainside in Europe, where everyone was poor…, with the exception of a tiny part of the population, who were the rich!. In the nearest village, there was a street where there was also a grocery store, a farm and raw cloth store and…, a tavern!.

…the grocery store sold sugar, rice, salt and flour, sometimes cod, and…, it was all on credit, where customers paid for the items in installments or during the harvest, when they made some money from their subsistence farming, where they normally They raised some poultry and killed a pig once a year!. Steaks, fine fish, coffee or wheat bread with butter… they were a luxury!

…after we were almost children, we were recruited, mobilized, trained in a hurry for the Colonial War, “boxed” in the hold of a cargo ship, sailing in the Atlantic sea, heading south towards the African coast, to fight people who were fighting for the freedom of their territories, and which we had never seen before and had nothing against and…, at the end of two long years, living in a scenario of fear and anguish in the swamps and forests of the then Colonial Province of Guinea, when we returned from new to Europe, we decided to escape…, that is, to immigrate!.

…we chose this continent on this side of the Atlantic, coming to live in this country that welcomed us with “open arms”!. As such, despite having sworn citizenship, holding a passport from this great country and having given our possible contribution to, with the help of our dedicated wife Isaura, creating and educating a family with honest principles, which in turn, have already created their own families…, we continue to be immigrants, descendants of Europe!.

…and, perhaps, due to the accent of the voice or any other anomaly, we are often asked: are you an immigrant, what country did you come from?. And the answer to these questions can be read on this poster, which we have completed with a beautiful photo taken from the internet and of which we do not know the name of the author, but with great respect we thank him, and who can tell us: “unless your ancestors are like this, you are probably an immigrant”!.

…estamos em Maio!. (…it’s May)!

…it’s May again! The week passed quickly…, it was Monday morning, Wednesday afternoon came and soon we were on Friday night!. Uff…, how time flies!. And…, we believe that one of the evils of this century is that we know at all times, all that information stained with the blood of innocents, with dead adults and children, in that “Mediterranean cemetery” that is the Gaza strip and further north is Ukraine, which after all are our “daily bread” and…, of course, they never leave our thoughts!.

…sometimes we think that it is better not to have memory, because having it, at the moment, is like walking in vain and…, arriving at nothing!. And of course, one of the biggest global problems, knowing everything up to the minute, is sometimes leaving us terrified by the news from media outlets, which are perhaps afraid of losing their audience, and…, continues constantly invading us with narratives of catastrophes, very difficult for ordinary mortals to understand!.

…we are resisting, we are trying to forget! We wait in silence and seek in a certain isolation, for the sun to come down to us every day, to rediscover the forest with trees and flowers, animals feeding, birds flying, lakes and rivers, which after all are life, and it was such how we were born there in Europe, on the side of a mountain where there was an indistinct class made up of poor people with no purchasing power, almost breaking what we today call the poverty line, but we were somewhat happy, because after all…, and watching this film in black and White, painted gray to give it some color, (done with some images I took from the internet), we could observe our world from our village, where there was no news from the outside world!.

…companions on the journey, as we mentioned above, we are resisting and…, fortunately, in addition to family, we are still surrounded by some authentic friends, those who, even though they know everything about us…, still remain our friends!.

Tony Borie, Século XXI. (Tony Borie, 21st Century).

…a rica teve um menino, a pobre pariu um moço!. (…the rich woman had a boy, the poor woman gave birth to a boy)!.

…life is a journey!. Mistakes will be made, but if we are humble, they can be corrected, because if we are not humble, we will never know that we made any mistake and, perhaps without noticing it, we spend part of our existence attacking someone else’s feelings!.

…today, we live almost on memories, here in the state of Florida, however our roots are still alive, not only in our thoughts, but also in our bodies, where we suffer anguish and moments of fear and suffering, under enemy fire, being a fragile unarmed soldier, during the battles we fought against people who were fighting for their freedom, and which we had nothing against, nor had we ever seen before, during our passage through the Portuguese Colonial War, where we were forced combatants by the colonial regime of country Portugal then!.

…however, the flag and the map of Portugal are engraved in our memory, always respecting the country where we were born, we remember the fireplace with a wood fire, the oil lamp that illuminated us on dark nights, the mattress filled with straw rye grown in the dry highlands of the pine forest where we slept, the hunger and misery of winter, which we were sometimes forced to endure, the old and worn clothes we wore, which had been worn by our older brothers or the clogs made by our father António, with the wood of a cherry tree, which did not resist a winter storm that hit and dried it, which we wore on our feet with some wounds from trampling the manure and peaks of gorse from the pine forest!.

…at least in the early morning hours, when we are already vigilant, our youthful memories appear in our minds, reminding us of family principles, the wise words of our parents and grandparents, where they explained to us that, evil, just like Well, what we could provide to someone, sooner or later, would come to us, almost always double!.

…these were the words of people who kept the fields green and never burned, cultivated corn, rye, cabbage, turnip greens, potatoes, raised chickens, a pig, a goat or a sheep, which gave them sustenance for raise and educate eight, nine, sometimes ten children! It was said that, “Bread was kneaded with the sweat of work”! Today, (at least young people), no one is interested in clearing or cultivating a small area of land!

…and we remember that for two years in a war scenario, in the then Colonial Province of Portuguese Guinea, at all times offering our young “body to bullets”, being able to die injured by the explosion of a mortar grenade , a mine or a furnace, riddled by the fire of an enemy machine gun that…, wrapped in our own camouflage, dirty with our own blood, or when any comrade died in combat, his family had to pay for the transfer of his body , if you wanted to bury him in the cemetery of the town or village where he was born!.

…and as we learned more about why we were actually involved in that damned Portuguese Colonial War, the more involved we became and the more we discovered in the so-called facts about battles and body counts reported in the controlled press of the then Portuguese colonial government, the more We knew they were far from the truth!.

…and, more than sixty years ago, unfortunately, we only now know some of the horrible incidents in which our troops were involved there in those swamps in the then province of Guinea!). It was a time when the soldier was cannon fodder and there was still the “classification of people” where it was said that, “the rich have a fine name, the poor have a thick name, the rich had a boy, the poor gave birth to a boy”!. This young man was forced to go to the Colonial War in Africa!.

..all of this is true! However, destiny compensates us at this advanced age, allowing us to sleep under a roof, with some peace and health in the company of our dedicated wife Isaura, making the stove in the kitchen work at least once a day, that is , we are happy with what we still have, always continuing with the thought that, “when the last tree has fallen, when the last river has dried up, when the last fish has been caught, we will all understand that money is not eaten” !.

Tony Borie, Século XXI. (Tony Borie, 21st Century).

(…“It’s obvious that you’re not an action soldier”)!.

…our military tasks included the distribution of “classified material”, which was the new code of the cipher system and which was done before every end of the month, delivered by hand to the command of all military forces that were in war scenario, in the area under the command of the Group of which we were part!.

…so, we took advantage of the trip in any military column, but the most frequent thing was to take advantage and fly in the mail plane, which at least once a week passed by the “outpost” where we were stationed!). We usually sat in the back, next to the mail bags and almost always carried a “Kodac”, which the National Women’s Movement offered us on one of their visits!

…the pilot was a furriel, who they affectionately called “Sparrow”, who we all knew in our “outpost”, due to his acrobatics!. We were going to land in a village close to the border with another African country!. We flew low, because “Sparrow” knew the runway, which was nothing more than a clearing in the grass! There was some water on the ground and he didn’t realize it, he got on the runway and tried to land!

…when touching the wet ground, the aircraft swerved to the left, flying a few more meters, rotating a little, to the right and again to the left, moving forward, although swaying from one side to the other, but remaining completely stopped and safely a little further ahead!

…for a moment we were in panic!. With the impact of the device on the ground, we must have done some somersaults inside the aircraft…, or maybe not, we never found out, as we were not carrying any protective belts!. However, once we regained our sense of orientation, we felt our head with our hands and, not seeing any sign of injury, we moved a mail bag aside, stamping it with our feet, we didn’t remember if it was a window or a door, which was in front of us!. With such an impact, whether it was a door or a window, it opened!

…we went out and saw the militia ensign who was traveling in front and was going to stay in that military unit, sitting with his head down, a sign that perhaps he had lost consciousness!. We forced the door to open, and at that moment he looked at us scared, asking some questions, seeming to be in a panic!. On the other side, in the pilot’s seat, “The Sparrow”, who we never got to know if he lost control of the aircraft or his sense of orientation, says, with the greatest calm in the world: “Go around and open this shit, I’m tired of pushing the door”!.

…fortunately, no one suffered any injuries, other than the scare and in the words of “Sparrow”, the aircraft was operational! Then, the military appeared, who came to provide protection and take the mail bags that helped to put the aircraft back in another position and moving us to the front seat, taking off again using one side of the clearing in the grass, with We are very afraid!

…after a while, and with the smiles of the “Sparrow”, we landed again at our “outpost”, after doing a few acrobatics in the air, because whenever I saw a taller tree, I would do a lap around it. , making the birds flee, or when a river or a swamp appeared, it would skim the water and whenever it did these maneuvers, we would hold on to the chair and sometimes close our eyes and…, the “Sparrow”, would immediately say: “It’s obvious that you’re not an action soldier”!

…the militia ensign who was traveling in front, to whom we opened the door to leave, remained our eternal friend and whenever he passed by our “outpost”, we would drink a glass together, swearing that nothing should ever be said about the fear that at the time we feel it!

…the “Kodac” in the photographs disappeared, perhaps along with the mail bags! We really liked that “Kodac”, it was the type that to take a photo, you had to pull a small lever on the side of the crate!
