…tínhamos pernoitado num parque de RV, muito próximo da pequena cidade de Red Lodge, Montana, aninhada nas montanhas deBeartooth e cercada pela floresta nacional de Custer Gallatin, onde muitos anos atrás habitava a “Nação dosíndios Crow”, no entanto, por volta do ano de 1870, foram encontrados ricos depósitos de carvão e até ouro foi descoberto nas proximidades!.
…we had stayed overnight in a RV park, very close to the small town ofRed Lodge, Montana,nestled in themountains of Beartoothand surrounded by theNational Gallatin Forest,where many years ago inhabiting the“Crow Indian nation”,however, around 1870, rich coal and even gold deposits were found nearby!.
…contudo, no final do século XIX, muitos novos colonos chegaram a Red Lodge, onde a sua maioria veio da Itália, das Ilhas Britânicas, Finlândia, Noruega, Suécia, Alemanha e Áustria-Hungria, que por aqui foram ficando e hoje, pelo menos no seu centro histórico, existem lojas, hotéis e restaurantes, com experiências gastronómicas excepcionais, sendo, onde começa a histórica Estrada Beartooth, que é uma das unidades panorâmicas mais de tirar o fôlego nos USA, enrolando montanhas acidentadas e oferecendo vistas inspiradoras a cada momento!.

Esta estrada icónica, aberta somente alguns meses no verão com bom tempo, pois devido à sua elevação e às duras condições de inverno, a Estrada Beartooth, geralmente está aberta apenas do final de Maio a meados de Outubro, dependendo da queda de neve!. Conecta a cidade de Red Lodge, Montana, até à entrada nordeste do Parque Nacional de Yellowstone, em Wyoming, todavia podemos seguir nela até à entrada norte do já referido Parque Yellowstone, na Silver Gate, em Montana, e felizmente foi o que fizemos!.

…no século XVII, a população das colónias americanas era em grande parte britânica mas…, o inglês certamente não foi a única língua falada, e claro, também certamente não se tornou a língua predominante, pelo menos em todo o que hoje é o leste dos USA!.

…naquela época colonial, talvez no espaço de uma geração, os americanos nascidos em povoações como Jamestown, no início de 1600, já deviam de falar de forma diferente dos seus pais!. Porquê?. Porque estes primeiros colonos aventureiros, entrando em contacto com outros colonos europeus que falavam holandês, sueco, francês, espanhol ou português, bem como outras línguas indígenas e, mais tarde, surgiram as línguas dos africanos escravizados, o que em certa forma contribuiu para a criação do antigo inglês americano com sotaque…, que hoje se fala!.

…e que hoje, 250 anos passados, os descendentes desses colonos aventureiros, com o sacrifício das condições humanas da época em que viveram, trabalharam árduo, contribuindo com o seu esforço para o progresso e engrandecimento deste maravilhoso país, continuando, não em espaços públicos, mas pelo menos nas suas casas e em família, a usar os costumes e a falar parte do idioma dos países de onde vieram,!. Esta é uma verdade que, pelo menos as novas gerações não devem ignorar!.
…and that today, 250 years later, the descendants of these adventurous colonists, with the sacrifice of the human conditions of the time in which they lived, worked hard, contributing with their efforts to the progress and growth of this wonderful country, continuing, not in public spaces, but at least in their homes and with their families, to use the customs and speak part of the language of the countries from which they came!. This is a truth that, at least, new generations should not ignore!
