…com a idade, tornámo-nos em observador de pássaros!. Porquê?. Porque na área onde presentemente vivemos eles abundam e, nos nossos passeios quase diários, caminhando por alguns “trails”, já os conhecemos, eles estão lá quase sempre em alguns mesmos lugares, e claro, obviamente, quase sem o sabermos também nos tornámos em grandes defensores da observação de pássaros nos seus lugares naturais e primitivos e entendemos que ver os pássaros nativos na sua área natural é um previlégio que ainda vamos usufruindo!.

(…with age, we became bird watchers!. Because?. Because in the area where we currently live, they are abundant and, in our almost daily walks, walking along some trails, we already know them, they are almost always there in the same places, and of course, obviously, almost without knowing it, we have also become (great advocates of birdwatching in their natural and pristine places and we understand that seeing native birds in their natural area is a privilege that we are still enjoying)!.

…esta águia, uma ave de rapina com alguma beleza, às vezes está lá empoleirada no topo de uma árvore, quando caminhamos ao lado do canal de água salgada!. Só às vezes, porque ainda não sabemos a razão pela sua raridade em aparecer!. Ela está protegida aqui na Flórida, embora continue na lista de espécies ameaçadas, a Flórida tem uma das concentrações mais densas de nidificação de águias americanas dos seus 48 estados mais baixos, que se concentram e agrupam em torno de lagos, rios e sistemas costeiros, com uma estimativa de 1.500 pares de nidificação!.

…para nós, as águias são as mais majestosas de todas as aves, colocando-as no topo das criaturas mais majestosas do planeta!. São pássaros gigantescos, com envergaduras que muitas vezes ultrapassam dois metros de comprimento, como algumas que admiramos de perto pescando salmão, lá no longínquo estado da Alaska, quando visitamos e acampamos com a nossa caravana na aldeia de Homer, no sul daquele estado, onde nos dizem que existe a maior concentração de águias do planeta!.

…a sua principal fonte de alimento são os peixes, embora também seja frequente alimentarem-se de pequenos mamíferos e até são um pouco canibais, pois muitas vezes comem outras aves, como gaivotas e aves aquáticas!.

…por aqui na Flórida, adoram viver e caçar em campo aberto situado perto de lagos e rios ou até pequenas florestas!. Para nós, a águia é um pássaro que além do mais, simboliza a liberdade!.
