…”Quarta Expedição ao Wild West”!. (Dia 3) …”Fourth Expedition to the Wild West”!. (Day 3)

…continuing our journey west on Highway 70, still in the state of Missouri, we saw a whole landscape of plains all the way to Kansas City, also in the state of Missouri, since there are two cities named Kansas City, one in the state of Missouri and the other in the state of Kansas!

…here we stopped for a while, appreciating some places that were already familiar to us, entering a region that constitutes the state of Kansas, which was inhabited by some native tribes before the arrival of the first European explorers, among them the “Kansa”, hence the origin of the state’s name, where there were also the “Osage”, the “Pawnee”, and the “Whicita”, who lived by hunting buffalo and cultivating corn, of which we can still see large plantations alongside the road today!.

…the road is long, following the terrain’s geography, which symbolizes the great American plains, with large wheat fields, large herds of cattle or even some buffalo, where you can still see some farms with pastures and trees around them, others simply abandoned, with oil wells working here and there, which we believe have been transformed into hunting areas!

…until we reached the border with the state of Colorado, stopping in the city of Burlington, which we are told has 256 days of sunshine a year and is one of Colorado’s best-kept secrets, where we visited the Visitor Center and a small museum with artifacts that show us the charm of the central Colorado plains!

…after buying gasoline (at an almost prohibitive price), and some food supplies, necessary for those who live on the road, we continued our journey, stopping in the city of Arriba, where we spent the night in an RV park!
