… nos últimos dias e onde presentemente vivemos, ao norte do estado da Flórida, após um período de dias secos e quentes, apareceu por aqui um frio seco e um pouco gelado!. Em alguns dias o vento sopra vindo do norte o que torna um pouco difícil andar lá fora, assim, permanecemos quase todo o tempo em casa e, sem saber como ocupar o tempo, fomos ao album de recordações, fazendo-nos lembrar algumas viajens pelo norte do Canadá, onde havia o mesmo frio, mas num cenário de montanhas tornava esse frio algo maravilhoso!.

(…in the last few days and where we currently live, in the north of the state of Florida, after a period of dry and hot days, a dry and a little icy cold appeared here)!. On some days the wind blows from the north which makes it a little difficult to walk outside, so we stay at home almost all the time and, not knowing how to occupy the time, we went to the album of memories, reminding us of some trips through the Northern Canada, where it was the same cold, but against a backdrop of mountains, this cold turned into something wonderful)!.

…e, viajando pelas províncias de Alberta, Columbia Britânica e Yukon, a caminho do Alaska, algumas montanhas recebiam muito mais neve do que em qualquer outro lugar, por vezes com ventos mais fortes, que eram comuns naquelas pradarias a leste do Ártico ou até nas áreas próximas de grandes lagos!.

(…and traveling through the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia and the Yukon on the way to Alaska, some mountains received much more snow than anywhere else, sometimes with stronger winds, which were common in those prairies east of the Arctic or even in areas close to large lakes)!.

…ouvindo a rádio na nossa “White Fox” (caravana), os avisos de tempestades eram constantes, que aqui e ali iam cobrindo toda a região, mas para nós o cenário compensava qualquer dificuldade que podesse surgir!. A neve no pico das montanhas, com o nascer do sol reluzindo no horizonte compensava qualquer dificuldade de seguir viajem durante a maior parte do dia!.

(…listening to the radio in our “White Fox” (caravan), the storm warnings were constant, which here and there were covering the entire region, but for us the scenario compensated for any difficulty that might arise)!. The snow on the peaks of the mountains, with the sunrise glistening on the horizon, compensated for any difficulty in continuing the journey for most of the day)!.

…porquê?. Porque entendíamos que tudo isto era normal e, apesar de já estar-mos no final do mês de Junho, grande parte das províncias canadenses permaneciam sob alertas de tempestade mas, não ouviamos qualquer alerta sobre ventos fortes, derrube de de árvores ou até inundações, assim podíamos continuar a nossa jornada!.

(…why?. Because we understood that all this was normal and, despite being at the end of June, most Canadian provinces were still under storm alerts, but we didn’t hear any warning about strong winds, felling of trees or even floods, so we could continue our journey)!.

…de vez em quando por nós passava outra caravana que saudava apitando, e fazendo gestos de que o cenário era maravilhoso, portanto tudo isto nos fazia confiantes, parando aqui e ali, porque o limpador de pára-brisas dificultava, não limpando o vidro da frente, podendo nós tirar uma foto mais perfeita, assim por vezes desviávamo-nos da estrada principal para melhor observar o cenário que para nós, era do “outro mundo”, não havendo palavras no dicionário que podessem descrever o maravilhos que era!.

(…from time to time, another caravan passed by us, whistling and gesturing that the scenery was wonderful, so all this made us confident, stopping here and there, because the windshield wipers made it difficult, not cleaning the window of the (Front, being able to take a more perfect picture, so sometimes we deviated from the main road to better observe the scenery that for us, was from the “other world”, with no words in the dictionary that could describe how wonderful it was)!.

…as montanhas vistas ao longe mostravam algumas saliências pintadas de branco com neve, no cume ou na crista ou mesmo ao longo dos lados de ravinas e, embora os topos das montanhas estivessem mais próximos do sol, eles também estava mais distantes do calor térmico do núcleo da Terra que mantinha o solo aquecido, assim, o topo da montanha podia ser muito mais frio do que o fundo, mantendo o maravilhoso cenário de neve por muito mais tempo, às vezes por anos!.

(…the mountains seen in the distance showed some white-painted bumps with snow, on the summit or crest or even along the sides of ravines, and although the mountain tops were closer to the sun, they were also further away from the thermal heat of the day. (Earth’s core that kept the ground warm, so the top of the mountain could be much colder than the bottom, keeping the wonderful snowy scenery much longer, sometimes for years)!.

…e até junto de pequenos riachos na base das montanhas, que até nos parecia uma selva tropical, na verdade o topo da montanha tinha neve que não derretia de uma só vez quando era aquecida pelo sol, assim, a neve podia mudar lentamente do estado sólido para o estado líquido vindo alimentar esses maravilhosos riachos!.

(…and even along the small streams at the base of the mountains, which even looked like a tropical jungle to us, in fact the top of the mountain had snow that did not melt all at once when it was heated by the sun, so the snow could slowly change its state solid to the liquid state coming to feed these wonderful streams)!.

…a Mãe Natureza é muito inteligente, porque causando este fenômeno meteorológico com milhões de minúsculos cristais de gelo que se iam formando no topo das montanhas e quando já estava perto do solo geravam a  água que começava a fluir em direção ao ponto mais profundo, por vezes até abaixo da superfície, logo abaixo das raízes da vegetação!. 

(…Mother Nature is very smart, because causing this meteorological phenomenon with millions of tiny ice crystals that were forming on the top of the mountains and when it was already close to the ground, they generated the water that began to flow towards the deepest point, for sometimes even below the surface, just below the roots of vegetation)!.

…no entanto por aqui onde presentemente vivemos, após um período de dias secos e quentes, espera-se um retorno ao clima mais frio e instável neste estado da Flórida, onde as temperaturas continuam a cair abaixo do normal e possívelmente hoje à noite, temos que cobrir as plantas para que não morram de frio!.

(…however around here where we currently live, after a period of dry and hot days, a return to the colder and more unstable climate is expected in this state of Florida, where temperatures continue to drop below normal and possibly tonight, we have to cover the plants so that they do not die of cold)!.
