…dormimos muito bem aqui, neste hotel, que nos serviu um bom pequeno almoço, o que nos confortou quase para todo o dia!. (we slept very well here, in this hotel, that served us a good breakfast, which comforted us almost for the whole day)!.

…depois de comprar gas, água e café, regressámos à estrada, no sentido leste, ainda dentro dos limites da cidade de El Paso, onde existe uma grande estructura no sistema de estradas, podendo, se  quiser-mos, olhar à direita e ver algum cenário de povoações, do lado de lá, no Mexico!. (after buying gas, water and coffee, we returned to the road, in the east, still within the limits of the city of El Paso, where there is a great structure in the road system, and if we want, look to the right and see some scenery of settlements, on the other side, in Mexico)!.

…nesta estrada, que talvez se considere uma estrada de trabalho, pois os camiões de mercadorias são constantes, a temperatura é alta, é um pequeno deserto, com grandes extensões sem qualquer povoação e, como nós viajamos sempre a uma velocidade inferior ao estabelecido, por vezes, damos por nós sózinhos na estrada!. (on this road, which may be considered a road of work, because the freight trucks are constant, the temperature is high, it is a small desert, with large stretches without any settlement and, as we always travel at a speed lower than established, sometimes we take it for ourselves alone on the road)!.

…o cheiro ao curral de gado, começou muito antes, o que nos fez pensar que algo ia mal no sistema de ar condicionado da nossa “White Fox”, mas não, era mesmo um curral, com centenas de vacas, ou bois!. (the scent of the cattle barn, started long before, which made us think that something was wrong with our “White Fox” air conditioning system, but no, it was really a corral with hundreds of cows or oxen)!.

…atravessar o estado do Texas, nesta área, é muito longo,  mais de 850 milhas, para nós, horas e horas na estrada, qualquer cenário diferente, era motivo para admirar, às vezes até mesmo parar!. (crossing the state of Texas in this area is very long, more than 850 miles, for us, hours and hours on the road, any different scenery, was reason to admire, sometimes even stop)!.

…numa povoação, já depois de passar Fort Stockton, parámos para comprar uma ou duas embalagens de gelo, procurámos em todos os estabelecimentos onde era possível vender gelo, que no momento se encontravam abertos e, não havia gelo!. Os empregados, não nos deixavam acabar a pergunta, logo diziam: “I’m sorry, there’s no ice”, “lamento, não há gelo”!. (in a village, after passing Fort Stockton, we stopped to buy one or two packs of ice, we searched all the establishments where it was possible to sell ice, which at the moment were open and there was no ice !. The employees would not let us finish the question, so they would say, “I’m sorry, there’s no ice”)!.

…a paisagem, deixou de ser árida, agreste, seca, começou a aparecer as primeiras árvores, com ramagem verde, na berma da estrada!. (the landscape, stopped being arid, rough, dry, began to appear the first trees, with green bough, on the side of the road)!.

…além de árvores com ramagem verde, também havia algumas elevações no terreno e, o limite de velocidade aumentou para 80 milhas por hora!. (as well as trees with green branches, there were also some elevations on the ground, and the speed limit increased to 80 miles per hour)!.

…próximo da cidade de San Antonio, onde desejávamos parar!. (near the city of San Antonio, where we wanted to stop)!.

…percorremos algumas avenidas da cidade de San Antonio, que foi fundada como uma Missão Espanhola e um Posto Colonial, em 1718. Esta cidade tornou-se no primeiro assentamento civil previlegiado no Texas, em 1731, tornando-se o município mais antigo do estado do Texas!. (we walked some avenues of the city of San Antonio, founded as a Spanish Mission and Colonial Outpost, in 1718. The city became the first chartered civil settlement in Texas in 1731, making it the state’s oldest municipality!.

… a “Missão Alamo”, em San Antonio, é muito comum chamada de “Alamo” e, foi originalmente conhecida como “Missão San Antonio de Valero”. Foi fundada no século 18 como uma missão católica romana e um complexo de fortaleza, hoje, é parte do Património Mundial de Missões de San Antonio, em San Antonio, Texas. Foi o local da Batalha do Alamo, em 1836 e, agora é um museu, na Plaza Historica do Distrito de Alamo!. (The Alamo Mission in San Antonio is commonly called The Alamo and was originally known as “Misión San Antonio de Valero”. It was founded in the 18th century as a Roman Catholic mission and fortress compound, and today is part of the San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site in San Antonio, Texas. It was the site of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836, and is now a museum in the Alamo Plaza Historic District)!.

…ainda tivemos tempo de visitar o “San Antonio Riverwalk”, também conhecido como “Paseo del Rio” ou simplesmente como o “River Walk”, é uma rede de passeios ao longo das margens do Rio San Antonio, é uma história, sob as ruas de San Antonio. O River Walk serpenteia e percorre pontes, como duas passeios  alinhados, com restaurantes e lojas!. (we still have time to visit the San Antonio Riverwalk, also know as Paseo del Rio or simply as the River Walk, is a network of walkways along the banks of the San Antonio River, one story beneath the streets of San Antonio. The River Walk winds and loops under bridges as two sidewalks lined with restaurants and shops)!.

…depois de tantos dias fora de casa, o nosso programa de viajem incluia, viajar por dia e, de dia, o maior número de milhas em direcção ao estado da Florida. Pensávamos que não devia haver tempo para cozinhar, ou armar tudo, para se passar a noite num parque de RV, portanto, optámos por passar as noites que faltavam, em qualquer hotel, que nos aparecesse na estrada, quando cansados, estávamos prontos para dormir!. (after so many days away from home, our travel program included traveling by day, and by day, the greatest number of miles to the state of Florida. We thought there should not be time to cook or put everything together to spend the night in an RV park, so we chose to spend the nights we were missing in any hotel that showed up on the road when we were tired, we were ready to sleep)!.
